A Trip to Jaipur

When a 9th grader from Navi Mumbai mentions a trip to Jaipur, one might assume it's for leisure. However, my journey to Jaipur was for a different purpose altogether – representing my school at an IDEATHON hosted by ACIC VGU (Vivekanand Global University). But before you wonder how I ended up over a thousand kilometers away from home, let me share the story of my first IDEATHON experience.

At Ideathon

It all began in September, during my autumn break, when my physics teacher, also the ATL in-charge, shared a brochure with our group of tinkerers. Being from Rajasthan, he directed our attention to an IDEATHON at ACIC VGU, Jaipur. Eager as I was, I pestered my teacher for a week to secure tickets and a seat for the event. With his support, my friend (whose name I can't disclose) and I were able to participate. Our school's laptop, provided by him, proved essential for our endeavor. With bags packed, we embarked on our journey to Jaipur.

The train ride was the longest I could recall. For my partner, it marked his first trip outside Maharashtra! Settling in for the 19-hour journey, we dined and drifted into sleep. The next morning, a conversation with an elderly passenger revealed he was a mentor for such events, offering insights on presentations and investor mentality. Encounters like these made the journey memorable.

Savoring Malpua

Arriving in Jaipur, we stayed at the home of a teacher from our school, whose connections facilitated our hospitality. Their warmth shattered any preconceived notions, portraying Marwaris as the epitome of humility and hospitality. Indulging in local delicacies like Mal Pua and Pani Puri added to the experience. The IDEATHON, part of the CODE RED 2.0 TRIATHLON event, brought together 40 schools and over 150 participants. Collaborating with students from different regions enriched the experience. Despite our project not making the cut, the journey taught invaluable lessons.

Returning home, encounters on the train continued to be enriching. Conversations with professionals unveiled existing products similar to my idea, a mix of emotions followed. Reflecting on the journey, I realized its significance in personal growth. Indeed, as Ibn Battuta aptly said,

"Traveling leaves you speechless,

then turns you into a storyteller."
